We’ve been talking about it on a weekly basis, we’ve been getting excited and inviting people to come and join in, and today the Global Cool Swishing Party took place.
We had a plethora of women arrive with a huge accompaniment of clothes, all of which were awesome little pieces, but for some reason or another, had never quite made the cut in their own fashion stakes. Now they were up for grabs, and as the clothes hit the hangers, you could see the ladies eyes light up with flames of fashion excitement.
And after a quick look to see what they wanted, the participants had to take a step back, and wait for the swish to open. Fashion designer and compare for the day, Scott Henshall, asked the ladies to take their marks, and they were off in a melee of clothes, smiles and a serious tug here and there to grab themselves some pieces.
When the dust settled, there were some bare clothes rails and lots of happy ladies with lots of cool new items for their wardrobe. Of course, the aim of the day is to highlight how recycling fashion can be fun and cool. Charity shop chic is what it’s all about and that’s the message that came across.
And to show off just how fabulous swishing can be, Scott Henshall donated one of his own £3,500 dresses, as worn by Paris Hilton. This was raffled, and who should win but RetroChick blogger Gemma, so a big congratulations to her!
An awesome day was had by all, and more blog posts about how the party goes tomorrow!
