UK Environment minister David Miliband hosted an exclusive screening of Al Gore’s climate change challenging documentary, ‘An Inconvenient Truth’, today (28th July).
Presented by former US presidential candidate Al Gore the film highlights the dangers posed by global warming.
Mr Miliband gathered opinion formers, community leaders and representatives from NGOs and government departments at BAFTA’s headquarters in London for the screening of the hit US movie.
The cabinet minister told the assembled dignitaries that the carbon emissions generated by the film’s screening would be offset by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
Speaking before the film began, Mr Miliband said “Al Gore’s film puts the case for tackling climate change forcefully at centre stage.
“The debate over whether our climate is changing has finished. Our energies should now be channelled into how we respond in an innovative and positive way in moving to a low carbon future.
“Those leaders we invited to see this film today have the power and influence both to mobilise others to action, but also take action themselves.”
’An Inconvenient Truth’ is set for release in the UK on Friday 8th September.
