It’s all well and good bringing in new legislation to cap California’s industrial CO2 emissions, but what’s been lurking in your garage Mr Governor?
In a bid to do his personal bit for the environment, Arnold Schwarzenegger has finally done away with his $950,000 fleet of Hummer all terrain vehicles.
The former action hero, turned Governor of California, became the first person to own a Hummer for personal use back in 1992, before gradually building up his collection to eight of the military vehicles.
In an earlier attempt to go (a bit) greener, Arnie promised to have one of his diesel models converted to run on hydrogen. Eventually General Motors built him one to add to his convoy.
In light of the State of California’s recent decision to sue carmakers Toyota, Nissan, Ford, Honda, Chrysler and yes, General Motors, over CO2 emissions, Arnie thought it was about time to do away with the Hummers; especially considering the giant vehicles emit up to three times more carbon dioxide than regular cars.
As reported by celebrity gossip website starpulse.com, news of Mr Schwarzenegger’s car cull came from none other than former Vice President Al Gore, who confirmed: “Arnie has given up his Hummers.”
