Having gone head to head the heavy polluting industries of California, state governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has now set his sights on his boss.

The movie tough guy who is up for re-election has written to Washington expressing the need for a “coherent federal policy to stop global warming.”

The former action hero, who has polarised opinion within his own party, highlighted the fact George W Bush “ignored with no explanation” his desire that there be a federal waiver to set vehicle emissions standards.

It’s not the first time in the last couple of weeks The Terminator has attacked members of his own party with regards to climate change. Speaking in San Diego recently Arnie trumpeted the significant steps he’d taken to cut reliance on oil and cautioned other states by saying: “The sad story is that, nationally, we don’t have great leadership on that.”

Sadly, while the ‘Total Recall’ star has impressed recently on policy, it seems he’s totally forgotten to recall his promise to get rid of his own fleet of Hummers.

The actor famously has fleet of eight of the militaristic all-terrain vehicles and almost single-handedly popularised them to citizens in the US.

Arnie promised to convert his fleet to hydrogen vehicles when he was elected two years ago, but alas, the gas-guzzlers are still in his drive and the environmentally friendly machines are still in General Motor’s forecourt.
