Has today’s Stern Review and tomorrow’s Halloween made you feel Doomsday is just around the corner?
Well it’s not all bad news, and if an organisation geared to working practices gets their way, you’ll be staying at home a whole lot more often in future! The non-profit organisation, Work Wise UK, has come up with a canny way to help the environment, build up better trust between employers and employees, and enable workers to take a more flexible approach to their jobs.
Work Wise believe a number of measures could be initiated by employers, especially concerning the need for the whole workforce to arrive at HQ each day while adhering to strict set daily hours.
They want people to take a smarter and more flexible approach to travel in order to stagger journeys or work from home if they can to cut down the amount of emissions from their motorcars or from public transport.
So therefore Wednesday 1st November is officially Commute Smart Day. The traditional nine to five working environment is “an anachronism in this modern 24/7 global world” said Work Wise UK chief executive Phil Flaxton.
He added: “The realisation of the damage our working patterns are causing the environment further underlines the need for us to have a workplace revolution so that we can minimise the impact of human activity on the environment.”
