Following yesterday’s official launch of their 10-year initiative, Global Cool descended on Downing Street this afternoon to show Tony Blair and Environment Secretary David Miliband just what they’re about.

Joining the Global Cool team as they presented to both MPs and business leaders were acclaimed singer/songwriter KT Tunstall and Hollywood actor Josh Hartnett, who both also appeared and spoke at yesterday’s British Museum launch.

Other big name attendees at the Downing Street do included writer and raconteur Stephen Fry, Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor, and Creative Director of the BBC Alan Yentob.

Following a presentation from Global Cool founder Dan Morrell, Environment Minister David Miliband addressed the gathering and offered his support for the campaign, emphasising the importance of “encouraging the individual to make a big difference.”

Tony Blair echoed this sentiment and also lent his support to the Global Cool campaign, as well as that of both Number 10 and the Government.

“I think this is just a wonderful initiative that I hope will inspire people the world over.” Said the Prime Minister.

“Individuals can help by doing something themselves, but also by being part of a movement like Global Cool, which will mobilise people in the same way that Make Poverty History mobilised people.”

Also in attendance in Number 10’s Cabinet Room was former Jane’s Addiction frontman and Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell, who presented the Prime Minister with a CD of his new band Satellite Party’s track, ‘Woman in the Window’.

The song features the vocals of Jim Morrison of The Doors, of whom Blair is allegedly a big fan, and was proffered to the PM as “the Global Cool mantra”.
