Environment minister David Miliband will take part in a Q&A organised by Friends of the Earth’s ‘Big Ask’ campaign following a post-Oscar screening of ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ in London next Monday (26th February).

As part of FoE’s hugely successful initiative, Mr Miliband will face the general public to answer questions following a special viewing of Al Gore’s movie at the Prince Charles cinema in Leicester Square. The much-lauded documentary is nominated for two Oscars at Sunday’s Academy Awards.

Friends of the Earth Director, Tony Juniper said: “Many people will watch ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ and wonder what our own Government is doing to tackle climate change. The Big Ask cinema night is an opportunity to find out by putting questions directly to David Miliband - the man in charge of our climate policy.”

This will be the first in a series of Big Ask question / answer sessions at the theatre, with Lib Dem leader Sir Menzies Campbell also penned in as a future speaker.

The campaign aims to put pressure on the Government to obligate to cutting the UK’s carbon emissions by 3% annually. The Prince Charles has committed to showing ‘An Inconvenient Truth’ once a week for the rest of 2007.

Owner Ben Freedman said: “Over the coming months we will be featuring a wide variety of speakers and we are all very excited that the first in the series will feature David Miliband and Tony Juniper who will be discussing some of the political issues and give our audience a chance to feed back their views on how the Government could respond.”

Global Cool has already bought a bunch of tickets, so if you have any questions you’d like us to raise on your behalf then please let us know at questions@globalcool.org.
