As previously reported on Global Cool London based electronica trio ReCoup have produced the artwork for their latest single, ‘Remind You’, using recycled crisp packets. However, this innovative energy saving marketing ruse has not gone down so well with the regulators of the British charts.

The Official UK Charts Company claims that the single is in breach of chart rulings because, according to the supervisory body, “by using ‘crisp packaging’ on a limited run of 1,000 makes it a collectable piece and therefore more valuable.”

With the track’s theme based on the impact of the human race on the environment, the band also wanted to reflect this messaging in the single’s packaging.

“We wanted to use a material that currently only has a single use before being disposed off to landfill,” said singer Pieter Theron.

“We live in a throw away society, wasting energy on producing new resources just so we can throw it in the bin again. Why not be innovative and reuse our resources.”

Although the single will not be legible to hit the charts upon its release on Monday 12th March, it has already generated a considerable amount of publicity surrounding its unique approach to artwork and subsequent rejection from the powers that be.
