George Clooney has topped a prestigious poll for two years in a row - not as the world’s most dashing chap - but as the best-dressed environmental man on the planet.
Respected Hollywood player Clooney takes the top accolade in the male style section of this year’s ‘Sustainable Style Awards’, rewarding green-acting celebrities for their impeccable taste since 2004.
Laurie David is winner in the women’s section, ahead of Oprah Winfrey, Martha Stewart, Thandie Newton and Jennifer Aniston.
Clooney’s anointing is at the expense of HRH Prince Charles, whose sartorial elegance has propelled him to a heady No.2 ahead of pious popstars Bono and Sting.
Fashion designer Giorgio Armarni, 2005’s most celebrated style icon polled at No.8, while ‘The Departed’ superstar Leonardo Decaprio - last year’s No.3 - takes a catwalk tumble, landing at No.10.
Other stars awarded not just for their flawless choices of attire but for their compassion for the planet over the years include Pierce Brosnan, Cameron Diaz, Stella McCartney, Salma Hayek and Moby.
Elizabeth Hurley, who polled last year, was notably absent following her decision to fly all of her wedding guests to India this year, proving a love of haute couture doesn’t cut it on its own.
