The IIFA Bond for Global Cool bond allows visitors to iifa.com and globalcool.org to make pledges to reduce their personal greenhouse gas emissions through simple actions published across both sites.

Global Cool’s 10-year plan is to tackle global warming by empowering one billion people to annually reduce at least one tonne of their personal CO2 emissions. Once those who have signed up to the MY CO2 workout card have reached one tonne in CO2 savings, they will be awarded the ‘IIFA Bond with Global Cool’, which will allow them access to exclusive video content from some of the biggest names in film, music, sport and entertainment.

Speaking prior to the launch in London, Mr Bachchan said: “IIFA is committed to using the power of Indian Cinema to build bridges and bring people together on global issues. We are proud to join the war of People versus Global Warming.”

Also commenting of the initiative, Global Cool ambassador Ms Miller said: “Climate Change is an issue that is going to affect us all unless we act now… and I truly believe Global Cool’s approach of encouraging individuals to reduce their energy use will go a long way to solving the problem. I would also like to say how grateful I am to the International Indian Film Academy for giving us the opportunity to spread our messages and tips to their audience.”

This sentiment was echoed by David Miliband, The UK Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, in his opening address at the launch: “The battle against climate change is not just an environmental issue, it’s an economic issue, it’s a social issue and it’s a security issue, but it’s also a cultural issue. And that is the significance of [the] announcement that IIFA is going green and the launch of the Global Cool Bond.”
