Trump Goes Ahead With Green Development

Cited by environmentalists as one of the planet’s biggest carbon criminals, property magnet Donald Trump appears to be bending to pressure with his latest development, a $40 million oceanfront restaurant and banquet hall on Long Island’s Jones Beach.

In what the star of the US version of The Apprentice refers to as his “Trump on the Ocean” (better than a trump in the bath we think), the 61 year old’s latest project will utilise some of the most recent advances in environmental technology in both its build and ongoing operation.

“Jones Beach is a rare jewel,” said the curiously coiffured entrepreneur. “We will do everything we can to keep it beautiful and eco-friendly in addition to building the best facility of its kind anywhere in the world.”

Set over five acres of popular Atlantic beachfront, the 1,400 capacity eatery will be constructed using sustainable building materials. Once completed the complex will function within water saving and energy efficiency targets as set by New York state’s ‘Green Building Initiative’.

Whether this new green leaning will continue through Trump’s next projects remains to be seen. The bouffant builder was granted an unusually generous 40-year lease and will pay less, in percentage terms, than any other major state park concession in return for adhering to the state’s green initiative. It certainly doesn’t take the brains of a winning apprentice to see through Trump’s thinking.
