Thom Yorke has publicly stated that the Friends of The Earth ‘Big Ask’ campaign will “come down like a ton of bricks” on Gordon Brown if the new PM doesn’t stick to agreed CO2 emission cuts.

Speaking in a statement hosted on YouTube, the outspoken Radiohead frontman reaffirmed his support for the campaign and took the opportunity to remind his MP to remind Mr Brown of his carbon cutting commitment. Earlier this year ‘Big Ask’ successfully put pressure on the government to set CO2 cutting targets.

Not content with mobilising over 20,000 to march on Trafalgar Square last November, FoE have now launched an online virtual march, which has so far picked up over 170,000 signatories.

Other big names throwing their high profiles into the campaign include Razorlight’s Johnny Borrell, Jude Law and Global Cool ambassador KT Tunstall.
