It’s only taken seven years of his administration for President George W. Bush to wake up to the realities of Global Warming. The incumbent leader of the free world leaves office this year, and has suddenly, conveniently, belatedly decided that something must be done about the greatest threat to humanity we as a planet face.

The Mayoral race of London is definitely on. Last time, all Ken Livingstone had to beat off was Frank Dobson, a fluffy, wet, west London Tory, happy to retire into his own fluffy beard.Or was that the time before? Nobody can tell. This time there’s a potential tory Trojan horse in the unlikely, non-equestrian looking Boris Johnson.

A new extensive coastline study is predicting large changes regarding the make up of Britain’s coastal habitat. It really could be a case of all change as creeping erosion and flooding bring new species to our shores with the warmer weather, while our more recognisable inhabitants battle to hang on to house and home.

We’ve all heard of the little black book, well here comes the little green book. Indeed, Dorling Kindersley - part of the Penguin Group - is promising the most environmentally friendly reads available. It boasts that the new series will be the greenest range on the market, hopefully encouraging other publishers to turn over a new leaf.

As you no doubt already know, plastic bags = bad. Supermarkets have been giving out 17 billion of the blighters a year, and when you consider they each take around a thousand years to decompose that’s an environmental disaster in itself; a tragic waste that will be difficult to eradicate even if we all rush out right now and purchase bags for life (and use them).
