Because looking glam doesn’t have to cost to Earth…
This week we received definite confirmation that, no matter how rich or posh you are, swishing is the coolest new phenomenon. Just ask Cheska Hull from Made In Chelsea…
Last Monday, Shoreditch House saw over 100 eager fashionistas and celebrity supporters swapping their clothes with each other as part of Ecover’s Wear & Care campaign, which highlights ways that fashion lovers can minimise the negative impact their clothes have on the environment.
Every swisher was asked to bring a selection of pre-loved garments that they could swap with other guests at the swish.
The event was supported by celebrities, including model Jasmine Guinness, Donna Air, Laura Whitmore, Olivia Godfrey and Made In Chelsea troublemaker Cheska (although we hear awkward conversations about other people’s relationships – Cheska’s usual social fare – were kept to a minimum).
There were top brands on board too with gorgeous garments from Mulberry, Superdry, Topshop, Biba, Mary Portas and ASOS.
Our pal Ada Zanditon even popped along too to show her support – proof that even top designers love a good clothes swap!
And to top it all off, any garments left over from the swish have been donated to House of Beth to drum up awareness of Human Trafficking issues and raise funds for the International Organisation of Migration’s victim support fund. So you could say these are some of the most thoughtful pieces of clothing around!
If you want to have a go you can attend a swishing party in your area or (if you fancy it) throw your own swishing party at home.
Here are some pictures of the event featuring a few of the celebrity names and a whole load of clothes…

Here comes the science bit…
GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…
/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
