So, who is he?
Veteran British actor, rose to fame as Mr Darcy in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. Other film credits include Bridget Jones’ Diary, Love Actually and Mamma Mia.
Impressive. What else do I need to know?
He was critically acclaimed for his role in A Single Man last year; gaining an Oscar nomination and winning a BAFTA. History is repeating itself this year with Colin winning Best Actor at the Oscars, BAFTAs and Golden Globes – this time for The King’s Speech.
So he’s a cool guy, but why is he a Global Cool guy?
Colin is a partner in his wife, Livia Firth’s, company Eco-Age – a one-stop shop for green living: providing ideas, advice and products on sustainable living. Before opening Eco-Age, Firth was involved in two coffee shops set up to benefit fair trade growers. Britain might be a nation of shopkeepers, but if Colin Firth has anything to do with it, we’ll all be running green shops! Livia even wore green dresses on the red carpet this year too.
We caught up with Colin at the British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs) just before Christmas…
