School of Cool #100: Why Alicia Silverstone is anything but Clueless

on in Entertainment

Because living a fabulous life doesn’t have to cost the Earth…

Alicia Silverstone

We can’t believe we’ve made it to our 100th eco-friendly celeb! Over the past couple of years we’ve brought you the creme de la creme of green goddesses and eco warriors, teaching you why doing magic tricks like Dynamo and why wearing edible underwear like Rachel McAdam is good for the planet.

Now we’ve reached out centennial post, we thought we’d save the slot for someone really extra special. And the winner is… Alicia Silverstone…

So, who is she?
You more than likely remember her as the hot, blonde one in Clueless but Alicia Silverstone has been pretty busy since her days of fashion obsessions and liposuction.

Impressive. What else do I need to know?
Batgirl faced much critisism when she uploaded a video of her pre-chewing food  before feeding it to her son. Whether you think it’s gross or completely natural, we think it’s her kid and she can do whatever she wants to care for him. Check out the video now…

So, she’s a cool girl, but why is she a Global Cool girl?
We’re big fans of eco-friendly beauty products, so we were bloody delighted to hear that Alicia Silverstone has her own organic beauty line. The entire range is vegan, certified organic ingredients and packed with antioxidants. Even the packaging is made with over 90% recycled materials (and can be recycled again) and printed with soy ink.

The Clueless actress also lives in an eco-friendly home in LA with her family, complete with solar panels, an organic vegetable patch and a load of rescued dogs. Her website thekindlife.com has loads of super tips for how to live a healthier, happier and more meaningful life – with great veggie cooking tips, green advice and animal love. She even has her very own book called The Kind Diet which is a simple guide to feeling great, losing weight and saving the planet.

And if that’s not enough to convince you, how about her naked PETA video?

frankensteinHere comes the science bit…

GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…

/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/
Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
