Because living like a celeb doesn’t have to cost the Earth…
Global Cool would like to give a warm welcome to our newest writer Rebecca Sellitti – one of the wittiest and prettiest gals we know. She’ll be bringing you the hottest gossip from the land of celeb each week – enjoy…
By Rebecca Sellitti
Amanda Seyfried could have any male in the world, and being the smart woman she is, the Les Misérables actress made the wise decision to make a four-legged fellow the main man in her life. Ms. Seyfried’s undying love for her pooch, and for ALL rescue dogs, is the reason I’m naming her as this week’s most snoggable celeb.
When Amanda’s precious pup, Finn, celebrated his fourth birthday, the porcelain-skinned actress used the occasion as an opportunity to spread the message about rescue animals by sporting a t-shirt that read ‘Adopt, don’t buy’. Mandy’s a clever lady: She took advantage of the fact all eyes would be on her chest, and in essence FORCED folks to heed the message about shelter dogs that was written there. MAN, I love this girl!
The Lovelace star also goes hard for Charity Pups, a website that sells incredibly adorable sketches of cute canines and donates a third of the proceeds to animal-related nonprofit organisations.
I think the fact that Amanda set up a twitter account just for Finn speaks volumes about how much she absolutely adores her doggy. (By the way, you should read some of Finn’s tweets. That pup is unbelievably intelligent, right up there in canine cranial capacity with Mr. Peabody!)
Jude Law may be in the running for ‘World’s Sexiest Man’ (seriously, I could get lost in those azure eyes.), but the Oscar nominated actor is more than just a pretty face. Jude also happens to be one of the UK’s most outspoken environmentalists. So, it comes as no surprise that Law would be right there on the front lines to protest the recent arrest of thirty Greenpeace activists. Law’s passionate defence for the defenders of Mother Earth has earned him the spot of this week’s most marriage-worthy eco-celebrity.
The A-list actor joined other celebrities like Damon Albarn, Paul Simonon, Downtown Abbey‘s Jim Carter, and actress Imelda Staunton to voice concern over the welfare of the Greenpeace activists currently being detained by the Russian government on charges of piracy. The ‘Arctic 30’ as the Greenpeace workers are being called, were arrested back in September during a protest at an offshore oil platform owned by the Russian government. Law, who worked with Greenpeace in the past as part of their Save the Arctic campaign, seemed utterly devastated to learn that the individuals working for a cause so near-and-dear to him, had been imprisoned.
And personally, I find his environmental zeal even sexier than his million dollar smile!
Oy! I’m nervous about naming the celeb I’ve chosen to ‘avoid’ this week, because this woman has millions of rabid, young fans. Still, I have a job to do and I take my job very seriou…sorry, I couldn’t even finish that sentence with a straight face!
Okay, here it goes. The celebrity I’m avoiding this week is none other than the leather-addicted songstress, Demi Lovato.
Now, I have a great deal of respect for Ms. Lovato’s talent as a singer, and I think she’s doing a fine job of providing a positive role model to today’s tweens (hopefully undoing the damage done by Miley ‘WTF Happened to You’ Cyrus), but Demi’s obsession with leather ware is kind of rubbing me the wrong way.
The former Disney starlet turned pop sensation is having a real love affair with leather jackets, though I’m hoping it’s merely a fling. From the Proenza Schouler black and white biker jacket Demi sported during a recent performance on The Ellen Show, to the Acne Merci red and black leather jacket she wore for a September appearance on The Tonight Show, it seems this brown-eyed girl is downright hooked on the cowhide!
In the November edition of Teen Vogue, the Heartbreaker described her eclectic wardrobe as “edgy, chic and a lot of leather.” She had me with the ‘edgy’ and ‘chic’, but really lost me at the “leather”.
For all those afternoons we’d spent together in the past, I’m going to do this Disney princess a solid and introduce her to the wonderful array of VEGAN leather jackets produced by Free People. I can guarantee that the young beauty will absolutely love their diverse selection of faux leather products!
Demi strikes me as a very compassionate individual, so I do hope she’ll stop before purchasing her next leather item, and remember that her newest fashion accessory used to be a living, breathing, creature. Like all of us.
Here comes the science bit…
