School Of Cool #72: How to be a royal success like Cate Blanchett

on in Entertainment

School Of Cool profiles our favourite celeb heroes. From rock stars to royalty we reveal all the eco-secrets that make them top of the class. This week it’s Cate Blanchett…

Cate Blanchett

So, who is she?
Cate Blanchett rose to fame playing royalty in Elizabeth, and has subsequesntly wowed audiences in movies such as The Aviator, Babel and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Impressive. What else do I need to know?
Blanchett’s on-screen debut occurred when she was eighteen and on holiday in Egypt. Another guest in the hotel asked if she fancied being an extra and she accepted, landing her a place as a face in the background of Kaboria. We’re just glad she persisted with acting, and with numerous awards under her belt now, her extra days seem a very far way away.

So, she’s a cool girl, but why is she a Global Cool girl?
The pretty actress may have made her name playing royalty, but in reality she’s a lot more down to earth. Cate Blanchett and her husband  are currently artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company, and she installed several green systems to make the whole place sustainable. The rooftops are covered in solar panels, and they reuse rainwater too (just like she does at home!)

Here comes the science bit…
Global Cool wants you to lead a green and happy life. This article can help you to be green by:

1. Supporting green campaigns as often as you can.
2. Try to use renewable sources like solar power, and reused rainwater wherever you can.
