MUSIC RADAR: Going underground with St. Vincent and Chvrches

Because staying on top of the music world doesn’t have to cost the Earth…

St Vincent and Chvrches

Need a pick-me-up on the bus to the office? Or looking for that perfect Friday-feeling tune for the train journey home? Look no further! Each fortnight we’ll bring you our Music Radar top track, complete with a Spotify playlist, so you can plug in and get your toes tapping on public transport

Q. What do you get when you mix a bit of electro-pop, a decent melody and funk guitar? A. Texas-born New Yorker Annie Clark – aka St Vincent. She’s her own brand of ethereal funk, and paired with her theatrical (and very cool) stage performances she’s definitely cementing her title of one of pop’s most exciting new stars. Check her out for yourself now…

Next up is Chvrches, a Scottish electronic band, formed in 2011. The group consists of Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, and Martin Doherty and they’re all rather nice to look at. Looks aside (we’re not that shallow), this indie-pop/dance trio are a talented bunch and we can’t get enough of their music at the moment.

Recover may be a bit of an oldie for Chvrches, but it’s definitely still a goodie, and we just know it’ll be on your summer BBQ playlist in no time. Enjoy…

And don’t forget to check out Global Cool’s Music Radar Spotify playlist to keep up to date with the hottest new music when you’re on the bus/train/tube to work….

GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…
/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
