Our plan to solve Robbie’s wedding woes

24 March 2010 in Entertainment

Inveterate bachelor and reformed jack-the-lad Robbie Williams has plenty of reasons not to wed. Millions of screaming female fans are just one. But it’s a different reason altogether that he’s blaming for the latest postponement of his nuptials – the date has been leaked to the press.

This is the third time the Angels singer, swing enthusiast and one-time Oasis-botherer has delayed his wedding to girlfriend Ayda Field.

A source told the Daily Mirror: “Robbie and Ayda are desperate to marry and start a new domesticated life together. But when their first day, Feb 14, escaped into the public domain, Robbie hit the roof. He has played out his relationship with Ayda largely behind closed doors and wanted it to stay that way.”

Perhaps one way Robbie could throw the press off the scent is by opting for a green wedding. Let’s face it, putting the fate of the planet before one’s ego isn’t normally the hallmark of a celebrity wedding.

Robbie’s been known to support many green causes, from eco-coffins to UNICEF initiatives, and green nuptials are a rising trend in 2010.
He could do no better than to check out the green wedding guide at top Bridal site Veil and Train. They recommend staying in one place for the day and using local entertainers – well, you couldn’t get more local than the groom doing a turn on stage.

It might sweeten the memory of Robbie’s last major recycling venture, anyway. One million unsold copies of his electro album Rudebox found their way to China, where they got crushed to build road surfaces. If the thought of driving over his failed masterpiece rankles as he next tours China, perhaps we could suggest getting the train instead?
