School of Cool #17: Mark Ronson

This week’s School of Cool comes courtesy of bleach-blonde DJ Mark Ronson…

So who is he?
A Grammy Award winning musician – he’s turned his hand to DJing and guitar as well as having a go at being a producer, an artist and even starting his own record label.

Impressive. What else do I need to know?
He’s best known for the 2007 album Version - he famously collaborated with Lily Allen on ‘Oh My God’ and Amy Winehouse on ‘Valerie’, and in 2006 he DJ’d at Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ wedding. You don’t get much cooler than that!

So he’s a cool guy, but why is he a Global Cool guy?
Well, he released a track called ‘The Bike Song’ as part of his newest project – Mark Ronson & The Business Intl – which unsurprisingly is about riding a bike around town! Just what we like here at Global Cool. He’s also teamed up with Transport for London, who have made a video set to his song, featuring celebrities such as Dermot O’Leary and Edith Bowman on a nice old bike ride around London. Check out here to get some inspiration for getting out of the car and on to your bike…
