Katy Perry

By Emily Rycroft

We hear Katy Perry is having a tough time staying vegetarian. A friend of the California Girl said: “Russell has been a veggie for 22 years, but Katy adores meat. She did give it up for a while for Russell’s sake but is finding it a struggle.” To help Rihanna’s bessie find her way back to the green side we’ve put together our ultimate guide to going veggie…

Why should you?
Apart from the obvious notion of being nice to lambs, did you know cutting out meat can help you avoid arthritis, acne, gum disease, MS, kidney stones and even heart disease? Going veggie can also help you become (and stay) thinner and save you money, as a plant based diet tends to be healthier and cheaper. Even more amazingly, a recent study carried out by OKCupid revealed that apparently vegetarians enjoy giving oral sex more than meat eaters (ooer)!

Stella McCartneyHow to do it
Now you know all the great things you have to look forward to, it’s time to get started. Why not try one of these three techniques to ease yourself away from that sirloin steak…

1. Do it like Stella McCartney and try out Meat-Free Mondays. Donate one day a week to eating completely meat-free and trying out a new recipe. Or just recreate recipes you know and love and use a meat-substitute like quorn or soy instead. After a few months you’ll have a bank of recipes to follow and it’ll be nice and easy to cut out meat altogether.

2. Try just ditching red meat first for a month, then cut out white meat too the next month, finally getting rid of the fish and animal products by month three. This is an easier transition as you realise how easy it is to adjust to the veggie lifestyle.

3. Experiment with the idea of going veggie by ordering a meat-free meal each time you are in a restaurant or out for lunch. Soon you’ll be craving all those yummy dishes at home too and your meat cravings will go out the window.
