Woody Harrelson is a movie star with a mission to highlight environmental causes. He’s travelled the length of the USA in a biodiesel bus, gained an honorary doctorate from York University, Toronto for his campaigning work — and now he’s come clean about his under-the-radar activities too.
“I guess you could say I’m an armchair activist because I put the money behind things or get into things remotely,” Harrelson told The Star, a Canadian news site.
The 48-year-old actor was being interviewed about his latest movie, The Defendor. Playing a middle-aged man who believes he has superpowers and fights against ‘Captain Industry’, it’s just the kind of subject that you’d expect the offbeat Harrelson to take on.

With his frantic filming schedule, Woody was keen to point out that recently, his activism has been behind the scenes — but was just as necessary in the face of the changing climate.
“I try to breach the front line a bit,” he admitted. “Politically people aren’t doing anything and industry is not changing how they do things. There’s a real consciousness going on with global warming.
