HIGH STREET GREEN: Look dreamy in cream with these hot summer picks

Because looking great this summer doesn’t have to cost the Earth…

Eco Summer Fashion

Global Cool loves fashion. We just can’t get enough of new eco-designers, inventive fashion recycling projects, discovering vintage treasures, and wrapping up warm in big woolly jumpers. And what’s more, there’s a whole world of green fashion at our fingertips online. But we know some folk would rather ditch the computers and have a rummage, try before they buy, and actually have a bit of human interaction when shopping. So each month we’ll be bringing you the top picks of High Street Green, to pay homage to our eco-army on the high street: clothing companies who show the world how cool it is to protect our planet…

First up this week is this gorgeous cream vest from H&M’s Conscious Collection (above left). The Conscious Collection was launched by H&M to promote a more sustainable fashion future, and this ribbed jersey top does not disappoint. It’s made from Tencel® lyocell that is slightly transparent so layer up or wear a pretty bra. We heart the racer back with deep armholes (perfect for a little hint of side boob), and a gently rounded hem that is slightly longer at the back (perfect for covering up those slightly unforgiving denim cutoffs).

Next up, Uniqlo know what it takes to make the world a better place… through the power of clothes of course! They publish The Power of Clothing and distribute it through their stores to highlight all their green initiatives and ethical practives. The All-Product Recycling Initiative is also a fab scheme: ensuring that they are reusing and recycling old clothing. Their summer collection is hot, hot, hot, especially these lovely cream and navy drape pants (above centre) that will keep you cool whatever the weather.

And finally, if you fancy baring a tad more skin (and don’t mind having to get almost completely naked every time you need a wee) then the Hannah Playsuit from Motel Rocks Vintage is for you. It comes in an array of colours and patterns but our favourite is this cream and red flower design (above right). Motel Vintage is inspired by the raddest indie and cult trends using recycled materials. Each piece is carefully hand picked and lovingly re-worked into the hottest one of a kind styles.

frankensteinHere comes the science bit…

GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…
/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane)/
