Global Cool and London Fashion Week

on in Fashion

So it’s official, we’re holding our very own swishing event during London Fashion Week as well as a very exclusive VIP party with Estethica and as you can imagine, we’re seriously excited!

In line with our belief that helping the environment can be fun as well as awesome for the planet, we’re encouraging people to go out and swish. Hopefully you’ll know what that is from our previous post by now, but in short, it’s a clothes swapping event.

We thought swishing would be a great place to start – it’s fun and lets you recycle the clothes you might not have worn. See, we did a bit of research and found out quite a few interesting facts.

For starters over half of all the clothes, shoes and accessories bought by British women during 2008 have not been worn. A survey of 3,500 UK women revealed that on average £470 was spent on items in 2008 that were never worn – an estimated UK total of £11.1 billion.

That’s right, our jaws dropped as well when we got the results back. But, pull your collective tongues back into your mouths, because there is hope! We’ve set up our own swishing page to let you know how to do it, and you’ve got the chance to win tickets to come to our swishing party via our recycle runway competition.

We’re also inviting a few bloggers to come to the event, from tech to fashion. We’re hoping they can come along and help spread the swishing word. At the moment, Vikki from Bitchbuzz and MIR, Helen from Technokitten, Gemma from Retrochick and Nicola from The gin lady are all coming, but we still have a few places left. So, if you blog about fashion, the environment or tech let us know, drop me an email and we’ll see what we can do for you.

Oh, and we’re on Twitter now and Digg and we’ve got our Facebook group, so if you use any of them, please follow us, add us as a friend or join our group!
