Jimmy Choo is globally renowned for producing some of the world’s most elegant and pricey footwear, but perhaps we should re-label the Malaysian designer as Jimmy Tool because some of his gear seems to have been designed to last just one (yes, one!) wear – as one unlucky fashion fan found out.
After spending hundreds of pounds on her dream pair of Choos, Joanne Hegarty’s were worn out and in need of resoling after only one day!
Joanne treated herself to a £425-pair for her wedding day and as weddings tend to be fairly hectic she expected a bit of ware and tear, but not for them to need resoling. This, however, seems to be the case after a day of Choo indulgence. Joanne soon discovered that many other women had suffered the same problem and when model Gail Shuttleworth put the theory to the test she revealed that the Choo’s, after a day of chores, were badly worn down, especially at the front. There was a little crack as well as two little tears on the heel (pictured).
We’re used to seeing Sex And The City’s Carrie Bradshaw only wearing shoes once, but surely they can’t expect us to apply the same ethos? Come on, Jimmy, it’s bad for our wallets and the planet (soon they’ll have to start making Jimmy Choo dedicated areas at landfill sights!).
The booklet does explain that you should avoid “rain and direct contact with heat, oil, grease, alcohol and other abrasive products”, but surely not the outdoors altogether? Maybe Choo should hook up with previous Global Tool Kelly Osbourne, who slated our favourite princess Kate Middleton for reusing her clothes. We think it’s safe to say, though, that Kelly Osbourne isn’t going to help Jimmy shift as many pairs as the Duchess of Cambridge could.
