London Frock Exchange

By Emily Rycroft

Sick of never having anything to wear? Imagine if you could pick and choose from an endless wardrobe of frocks whilst getting rid of some of your unwanted dresses? The London Frock Exchange takes Swishing to a whole new level, and Global Cool caught up with CEO Charlotte Davies (pictured right with her business partner Sarah), to find out all about it…

With many years experience in vintage buying and selling, Charlotte decided to start up London Frock Exchange. She told Global Cool: “I wanted to improve on what was already there, to offer a swap service that takes out all the time consuming bits for the customer. Our like-for-like swap sections give people confidence that they will receive quality for quality.” Apart from LFE no swap website offers a service allowing the customer to reap all the benefits of the swap without any of the hassle. Once you have chosen your frock there is a £30 admin fee and then all postage is free.

Charlotte’s career in previously owned designer clothing and vintage began with a stall in the street markets of London many years ago. And now she is building the world’s largest wardrobe: “Every girl loves a frock and every girl has one in the wardrobe they don’t wear anymore. We want to sell accessories and expand into different areas of clothing. I want to build the biggest, most glamorous wardrobe in the world for women to share. The idea is you could buy one dress and keep swapping so you never wear the same thing twice!”

We really admire Charlotte’s determination and drive. As a new mother she has juggled a hectic lifestyle with launching a new business, but she tells us it’s all worth it: “The word that would sum me up as an entrepreneur is ‘determined’. I’m a stay-at-home mum so London Frock Exchange gives me something that is mine. I get to meet lots of lovely people and do something that makes a difference. I think green living is so important as I want to make sure the world is a better place for my daughter in the future… Oh and I love working with all the pretty dresses!”
