Runway to Green

We always keep you up to date with all the latest in green fashion, whether it’s upcycling or a brand new range made from sustainable fabrics, but this week something very exciting happened. Some of the biggest and best designers in the world – household names that you’ve always wanted to own – have produced eco-friendly garments as part of their Fall 2011 collection to be sold through NET-A-PORTER’s US website.

The evening was part of the Green Auction scheme which raised $2.4 million last year, and brought together famous faces who dislike the disposable fashion culture and love buying eco-friendly pieces that will last a lifetime to watch the glamorous runway show in New York’s Rockefeller Center. At the same time, they bid for objects and experiences for Christie’s Green Auction – proceeds of which will go to charities that are doing their bit to make the world a little bit better.

Whether you fancy some YSL, Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Burberry Prorsum or Gucci, you can take your pick by buying online and feel great inside and out wearing your green garment. And they didn’t all make glitzy frocks either – with everything from trenches to accessories, there’s something for everyone. You can finally channel Carrie Bradshaw but go one better by making your wardrobe sustainable with Manolo Blahnik shoes…

Thoughts? There’s a comment box for that sort of thing…
