Summer is here! Well, sort of, so it’s time to bring out the sunglasses. And even if it’s raining, sunglasses are cool as (fact!) so wear them anyway…
Whether you’re a fan of the big bug-eyed sunnies a la Nicole Richie, or prefer stylish aviators like Brad Pitt, we’ve found the best eco-friendly bamboo sunglasses to suit everybody.
1. ebay is probably the best place to start if your budget isn’t very big. Although the prices can still be quite high, you’ll still be paying less than you would from a shop so you save some money.
2. Vintage sunglasses are eternally cool, and there’s a pair to suit everybody. Whether you want to channel a bit of the 70s with a bigger is better approach or if you’d rather rock the guess-where-I’m-looking mirrored style.
The fact that they’re vintage means they’re pre-loved so you can wear them to give your outfit a funky twist. Klasik has a great range of sunnies for men and women with styles dating right back to pre war up until the 90s.
3. Designer glasses were always going to be towards the top end of the scale, we’re just glad that some designers are starting to use natural products to create their items. Gucci have produced a range of bamboo sunglasses to choose from.
4. Launched in the UK in May of this year, UnitDot sunglasses not only make you look cool and protect your eyes from the sun, they do it without doing any damage to the earth. They’re made from bamboo and for every pair sold, £2 is donated to UNICEF and a tree is planted by Excentree.
5. Kayu is a San Francisco based brand that specialises in sustainable materials, and make their sunnies from bamboo. As well as using materials that don’t harm the environment, Kayu also donate $20 to Unite for Site; a charity that aims to improve eye health and eliminate preventable blindness- for every pair of glasses sold.
Get yourself some funky shades and get out in the sunshine (or the rain
