Swishing is an art we already know all about, but just in case you’ve been out of the loop we’ll enlighten you… It involves swapping clothes you don’t wear anymore with other people who feel the same way about their old garb. Swishing is a fantastic way to trade in unwanted clothes to avoid being a wardrobe hoarder and also to get some great new party frocks absolutely free. We’re here to help you throw your own ultimate Swishing party with these great tips…
Set it up
Invite some mates, buy some snacks and drinks and clear a space at home. When your Swishers arrive either hang everything up on rails, or create different sections in boxes for tops, dresses, shoes etc. The great thing about Swishing is you can invite as many people as you like and create your own rules. So just enjoy yourselves.
No biting

Keep a t-shirt tug of war at bay with some basic ground rules. Past experience has taught us that if more than one lady (or gent) likes something the easiest way to resolve it is to toss a coin. Usually a party will elect one host to mediate bickering (NB nominated hosts: body shots are acceptable but no nails or face palms). Arm wrestling you say? OK, go on then…
Fair trade
Some swishing parties will have a token system in which you receive a certain number of tokens depending on the value of items you bring along. This tends to be a good idea to avoid accidentally trading that vintage leather skirt that doesn’t quite fit with a grotty Primark top someone has had for years.
Change it

Designate a changing area so your Swishers can try on items before they swap. It means everyone will be happy with their hoard and also allows other Swishers to see what things look like on- remember one woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure!
