Because looking fabuous doesn’t have to cost the Earth…
According to Adidas, in one year it takes half the amount of water in the Mediterranean Sea to colour the world’s clothing. That’s a lot of water wasted on keeping your brights bright!
So Adidas have come up with a way to dye their clothes without any water at all. The sportswear giant has teamed up with the Yeh Group, who created the clothing revolution known as DryDye, aka ”technology that puts color into our clothes while keeping the water in the Mediterranean where it belongs.”
To put this in perspective, it normally takes 25 litres of water to dye one t-shirt, which means this summer Adidas and the Yeh Group have saved over 1,250,000 liters of water with their new range (above right)!
What’s more, now Global Cool fave Stella McCartney has jumped on he bandwagon too. She’s already been creating a range for her Autumn/Winter collection, and now she’s also created the Stella McCartney DryDye T-shirt (above left).
Here comes the science bit…
GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…
/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
