Global Cool’s resident book worm Emma brings you her favourite reads, inspiring you to ditch the car and the stress of the morning commute and bury your head in a great book on the bus or train instead…
The last day of term is almost here which means no more exams or uniform. You can finally strip down to your bikinis or trunks and get partying in the sun. But just in case you miss all that classroom sexual tension and teacher-intrigue, I’ve got the perfect book to bring it all back when you’re on the bus to the beach.
What’s all the fuss?
The Last day of Term by Francis Gilbert fills in all the gaps about your teachers and school-life that couldn’t even be magicked up in Harry Potter. Set in a gritty inner-city Academy we discover two very different characters – a sexed up teacher and a young boy with a difficult background – who’s futures become entwined for all the wrong reasons. Some serious email stalking and plotting reveals two characters who really need to sort their lives out but can’t figure out the best way how. It might not be the laugh-out-loud ride of Louise Rennison’s school-girl antics, but its dark humour and real-life feeling left me a little older and wiser about the school-yard.
Tell us what you’re reading on the bus at the moment by 11am on Friday July 22 and one random lucky winner will get a copy of the book! Just leave us your recommendation in the box below…
