Because cleaning up your act doesn’t have to cost the Earth…
It’s a brand spanking new year and it’s time to clean up your act! Each and every day we are constantly surrounded by nasty chemicals. From the products we put on our skin and into our bodies to the hidden dangers in our kitchen, it’s time to clean up your act. Set yourself free from all these harsh products and detox your life with these five simple steps…
1.Cut the cans
Canned food may be the epitome of cheap, but they contain chemicals that can be a real pain for the planet and for you. Opt for fresh food instead to keep your body healthy and the planet happy. You could even try to grow your own veg to save a pile of cash too.
2. Pick the perfect perfume
Did you know that perfume companies are not legally required to reveal the harsh substances going into their products? That means you have no idea what you’re spraying yourself with. Treat yourself to a bottle of White by Undergreen: an oriental floral fragrance for women and men. With coconut and mint top notes, ylang-ylang, jasmine and orange flower middle notes and base notes of orris root and amyris, this perfume is an intense sensory delight.
3. Shower safe
Most shower curtains are actually made from vinyl which is a real burden on Mother Nature. Plastic shower curtains contain PVC and phtalates that are harmful for your health. When the shower curtain is heated (ie when you’re taking a shower) the phtalates are realeased into the air and inhaled. Gross! Opt for this Hemp Shower Curtain from Drapers Organic instead- made from natural fibres you can be sure to stay chemical-free.
4. Treat your teeth
Why subject your pearly whites to a daily chemical attack? Opt for Tom’s of Maine Toothpaste instead which uses naturally sourced silica to help whiten and bring back the natural sparkle of your smile. It’s clinically proven to give you whitening cavity protection and super fresh breath. The natural ingredients improve cleaning and gently whiten without using any harsh bleaching ingredients or nasty abrasives, so you’ll get a bright healthy smile a fewer trips to the dentist.
5. Say no to non-stick
And finally, we know they might make cooking an omlette a little bit easier, but non stick pans are a definite no-no. Teflon pans are bad for the environment and the chemicals used can also be bad for you too. Choose some decent stainless steel pans instead and save some money too!
Here comes the science bit…
