Hair cutting for a cause

on in Lifestyle

Now, what are your normal concerns when you hit the salon? What style you want? How much it will cost? Which shade of blonde or brunette this time? Well, how about how you can help look great and save the environment at the same time?

A novel project from stylists at Paul Mitchell Schools US hair dressing schools means during Earth Week they don’t just want hair to practice their skills on, but also for soaking up spilled oil, believe it or not.

A partnership with the San Francisco based Matter of Trust, means that the hair collected from all the cuts they do goes to the environmental organisation which recycles hair into mats that can soak up oil. A just under half a kilo of hair can be turned into a mat which can soak up about a litre of oil and can be used over 100 times as long as no sand gets in it.

The guys at GreenBiz.com have soundbites from the people at Matter of Trust and Paul Mitchell Schools, so jump over to read more about the charity and how they’re helping people remain stylish whilst helping the environment at the same time. Right up our street!
