Our latest Get Involved post comes from Global Cool friend Tom Harding, who tells us all how to cheer up this winter eco-style…
We all love the festive season for the presents, food and parties. Yet it’s also common for us to feel down around this time of year, where the lack of sunlight and shorter daylight hours can take its toll on us emotionally. Fear not, as we’ve sourced the best ways to get rid of those winter blues while also helping the environment.
Take a winter Traincation
Not only is a Traincation usually cheaper than flying, but the journey is much more picturesque, the food is better and it’s more environmentally friendly too. Take a gander at all our Traincation inspiration for our top tips on your winter getaway.
Pamper yourself at an eco-spaSpa treatments are the perfect way to treat yourself over the winter period, and the good news is that there are now centres across the country, dedicated to making you feel beautiful whilst being good to Mother Nature. Have a look at Titanic Spa and the Uniquely Organic Eco Spa for their eco-friendly packages.
Chow down on some healthy grubWinter is all about food, so it’s important to replace the lack of daylight with some fresh ingredients to boost your serotonin levels and enhance the mind. Root vegetables such as sweet potatoes, butternut squash, pumpkin, carrots and beetroots have all been proven to enhance this, so add a taste of happiness to your winter cuisine.
Take up YogaTaking up a new exercise such as yoga will stimulate your mind, improve your posture and help you breathe more deeply. Known as an effective treatment for the winter blues, it increases serotonin levels, giving you a greater sense of wellbeing and overall happiness. It’s also much more enjoyable than sweating it out in a stuffy gym.
