Twitter. It’s what everyone is talking about at the moment. It’s new, it’s interesting, it’s got all the corner stones of a great social media tool, and it’s taking off.
If you’re not familiar with Twitter, I’ll try to explain. You know the status update thingy on Facebook? It’s like that really. It originally started out by being called ‘micro-blogging’ but, it’s grown to so much more than that.
In the beginning you could ‘tweet‘ what you were doing, so that your friends, or ‘followers,’ could read what you were up to, and potentially join in. It’s great for finding out what you’re pals are doing right this second. But like I said, since launching it has developed into so much more. It’s now this huge thriving community, with tweeting at each other about everything and anything. Everyone from President Obama to Stephen Fry has their own Twitter account, and it’s getting bigger and bigger. They have their own video, it’s on their homepage.
Someone recently said it’s like, ‘being at the best party you’ve ever been to and being able to talk to everyone at the same time,’ which I think is a great way of looking at it.
What’s this got to do with the environment and Global Cool? Well we’ve just started tweeting ourselves! If you’ve got an account, please come and follow us!
If you look at the hashtag website for the tag #environment or #green, you’ll see people from all over the world talking in real time about the environment. So if you’re active when it comes to the environment, you want to get more involved, or you just want to watch what people are saying, why don’t you get involved yourself? It’s a great place to start if you want to talk to people who have similar ideas and thoughts as you on the environment.
A couple of cool accounts to get started with are below, but best to just use their search function and explore for yourself!

Be warned, once you get started, it’s highly addictive! Leave a comment in our comments box with your @ handle so others can follow you as well.
