News / Stars Turn Out for Global Cool
The great and the good of fashion, film and music packed out a top London private members' club on Monday night (23rd February) to celebrate Global Cool's newly-formed partnership with Estethica; the British Fashion Council's sustainable fashion initiative.
Accompanied by DJ sets from 'Gavin and Stacey' star
Mathew Horne, celebrated scenester
Seb Chew, and festival favourites
Beef Warehouse; celebrities including
Duran Duran's Nick Rhodes, actor
Nick Moran, and former Libertine
Carl Barat partied into the early hours.
In addition to two towering transvestites -- clad completely in customised charity shop clothes to promote recycled fashion, other notable attendees included
Amy Molyneaux and
Percy Parker -- the label heads of cult clothing company of
PPQ, model and designer
Jasmine Guinness, Bernie Ecclestone's daughter
Tamara, and
Dan Gillespie Sells and
Ciaran Jeremiah of
The Feeling.
Staged during London Fashion Week, the aim of the star-studded bash was to highlight the work being done by both Global Cool and Estethica to improve the fashion industry's impact on the environment.
Estethica aims to motivate industry leaders and the fashion media to improve practices, all while inspiring individuals to make more conscious eco-fashion choices. Global Cool, in addition to progressing its hugely successful phone recycling campaign, is actively promoting the re-use and recycling of garments in an attempt to drastically cut the 900,000 tonnes of clothing that ends up in UK landfill every year.
By working together, Estethica and Global Cool will pool both knowledge and resources to put fashion at the forefront of the battle against climate change.

The shindig, held at South Molton Street's prestigious
Molton House, followed Global Cool's celebrity swishing party, which earlier in the day saw a horde of fashion fanatical competition winners battle over celebrity donated garments, including a £3,500 worn by
Paris Hilton by Brit designer and 'I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here' star
Scott Henshall.
Back at the party guests swigged on cocktails made from Snow Leopard Vodka, which gives 15 percent of its profits to snow leopard conservation, and chowed down on snacks provided by YO! Sushi, the equally ethical chain that only sources its products from quality sustainable fisheries.
Proving that there's no such thing as a free lunch (well, a free cocktail and sushi supper), the assembled VIP's were gently persuaded to be photographed recycling mobile handsets to promote
Global Cool's phone campaign with Vodafone.
Still, their efforts did not go unrewarded, when the night finally rounded off partygoers were presented with goodie bags packed with delights including a free facial or body massage at the luxury Pacifica Spa in Notting Hill. Pacifica also provided products from Elemis and Dermalogica. Other gifts included a voucher from the eco underwear company Green Knickers, the ACME climate change book and a Monsoon CD. Not bad going for a night on the tiles...
