Lily Allen launches recycled fashion

5 March 2010 in Entertainment

Good old Lily. Not content to sit tight on her latest album, tour and modelling contract with Chanel, the super-styled singer has added a new string to her bow: fashion retailer.

This week, Lily declared that she would launch her new vintage clothes business as part of a spectacular festival at Goodwood — also with a celebratory, vintage theme.

Allen’s new label, Lucy In Disguise, will bring the public the best in recycled and renewed vintage clothes as “an antidote to the mass consumerism culture of high street shopping,” she told reporters.

While Global Cool readers will be no strangers to swishing, they’ll welcome the opportunity to plug into Lily’s style without costing the earth.

It’s like bringing the Venice Biennale, London fashion week, the London design festival, a bit of the Edinburgh Fringe, a bit of Glastonbury and the Festival of Britain

How appropriate that the festival at she’s choosing to launch Lucy In Disguise is called ‘Vintage’ — a creation by Wayne Hemingway to celebrate the glamour and creativity of the UK over the last 70 years.

From 1940s dancehalls to performances by The Damned, Vintage will be a mud-free romp through style history. “It’s like bringing the Venice Biennale, London fashion week, the London design festival, a bit of the Edinburgh Fringe, a bit of Glastonbury and the Festival of Britain” said Hemingway.
