Apps In Public: Play that funky music (no, not The Wheels On The Bus)

on in Stuff

Our guide to the best iPhone apps for making you just that little bit greener…

Spotify – Free (available at iTunes, Android, Symbian, Windows and Palm app stores)

We’ve all been there… you’re on a long train or bus journey (remembering all the things we’ve taught you about how to Do It In Public) and all the music on your iPod feels like you’ve heard it a million times before. That Lady Gaga track that once sounded so fresh and futuristic suddenly started to feel a bit Sonia-esque.

Some of you might have a radio app already, but let’s face it, most of the stuff on the radio these days is rubbish.

So, instead, we bring you the Spotify app! If you’ve already got Spotify installed on your computer, you’ll know the deal – pretty much all music ever at your fingertips.

The Spotify app works on pretty much the same principle: you just need to subscribe to Spotify Premium in order to run the app on your phone – but what’s £9.99 a month for all that music? And you lose the annoying adverts too!

And no worries if your train suddenly goes through a tunnel, because as long as you’ve saved your playlists in advance, you can play them with no signal. Plus, because you’re a Premium member, you’ll get new music sooner, and it’ll be higher quality, too. Perfect for when you’re Doing It In Public or taking a Traincation!

Now all you need is something to charge your phone on the go and you’ll be all set.

What do you think of the Spotify app? Tell us in the comments…
