Forget the Gherkin, London has a new cool kid on the skyscraper block (stretching that metaphor too far? Nah…)
The Strata, or Razor as it’s been nicknamed, is a 485ft, 43 storey residential building in the Elephant & Castle area of London.
But what really sets it apart is the massive wind turbines built in to the roof, which provide eight per cent of the energy to the building, powering the lifts and automatic window cleaning rigs.
The Razor isn’t just for rich kids who want to party in their pent house either, nine of the floors have been designed to provide affordable housing for those on an income of under £60,000.
Each of the flats, luxury condos and penthouse have ceiling to floor windows so everybody gets a wicked view of London.
Two more sustainable buildings have also been planned for the Elephant & Castle area. Who says you need to be in Shoreditch to be cool?
