Whether it’s an iPhone, an Android or an old ’80s brick, few of us could live without our mobile these days. But next time you’re falling inappropriately in love with your latest shiny handset, spare a thought for your old phone. Don’t just toss it in a draw to gather dust. Instead, do us a favour and do yourselves one too by recycling it with Global Cool.
You can also recycle other gadgets with us, such as old cameras or MP3 players.
By recycling your old phone (or gadget) with Global Cool, you’ll not only be helping to fund us and our future activities, you’ll also be in with a chance of getting your hands on a load of free music courtesy of our official music partner Fairshare Music.
Everyone who recycles a gadget with us between now and the end of March 2011 could be in with a chance of winning a fantastic music prize – one free album a month for the next year from Fairshare Music. There will also be 10 runners up, who’ll get 10 free MP3′s of their choice to download from Fairshare.
For your chance to win, here’s how to enter…
1. Wipe it clean
Clear all your personal data from your handset or gadget, making sure that you back up all your numbers, photos etc on yo your SIM or memory card beforehand so that you don’t lose them.
2. Save your SIM or memory card
Flip the back off of your phone and remove the SIM card. It’s the little plastic card that usually sits under the battery. Keep this somewhere safe or pop it in your new phone. Make sure you remember to remove the memory card from your camera too or back up any music you’ve got on your MP3 player.
3. Handover the handset
If you’ve received one of our phone recycling envelopes via Backstreet Merch, simply follow the instructions on the envelope.
If you’re using your own envelope, pop your old phone or gadget (including chargers if you have them) inside, write ‘FREEPOST GLOBAL COOL’ on the outside (no stamp required) and pop a slip of paper inside with the following details:

- Address
