Quinta do Arão, Portugal

By Hollie Wicks

This week we are sending you to Quinta do Arão, an organic citrus farm nestled away in a peaceful valley that forms part of an ecological reserve in Portugal. It’s a ten minute drive from the nearest beach and fifteen minute drive from the historical town of Lagos, making it the perfect getaway for this time of the year.

There are three magnificently restored apartments each with their own terrace with panoramic views to enjoy. The resort extends over six hectares and maintains over 280 orange trees as well as lemon, olive, almond, fig and grapefruit trees. The owners encourage their guests to help themselves to organic farm produce for free (yum).

It’s an ideal location for a relaxing holiday away from the bustle of everyday life. From lazing about by the pool to walking in the nearby countryside, you’ll have plenty to do. For all you adrenalin junkies, there’s also scuba diving, wind surfing, horse riding, and much more too!

Take a look at the photos below to get those adventurous juices flowing…

GC articles show you one of four ways (the one in bold) to live greener…

/ Be a winner (not a binner) /
/ Turn up the style (not the heat) /
/ Love the trend (not the spend) /
/ Do it in public (not the car/plane) /
