Five ways to fix a broken celebrity marriage

on in Travel

It’s been a rough few months for celebrity marriages.

First there was Tiger Woods enjoying, ahem, 18 holes of a different kind, then John Terry took team bonding a little too far by sleeping with his England team-mate Wayne Bridge’s ex girlfriend; even Cheryl Cole, a woman you’d think most men would be keen to keep hold of, couldn’t stop her man Ashley from honing his photography skills with a little extra-marital nude sexting.

Since then there have been all sorts of stories in the press about attempts to reconcile these celebrity marriages.

Here at Global Cool we’ve teamed up with travel site Loco2 to suggest another way for John and Toni Terry, Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren, and Ashley and Cheryl Cole to fight for their love.

Loco2 have just launched an easy-to-use journey-planner, making romantic Traincations the perfect solution to a broken celebrity marriage. Here are our five favourite romantic Traincation destinations…

1. Paris

Where else? Whilst France may be famous for frog’s legs and unshaven armpits, the country’s capital is the world’s most amorous city by a mile. From a sunset-drenched walk along the Seine underneath the iconic shadow of the Eiffel tower, to fine wine and Cordon Bleu food in one of the city’s hundreds of renowned restaurants, there’s more than enough to keep you in the mood for love for a long weekend and beyond. Just remember to brush your teeth after all that garlic!

Eurostar prices start at £60 for a return. This journey is so simple that we don’t think you need a journey plan, but just in case you want one anyway, here it is!

2. Florence

The home of the renaissance and of voluptuous naked forms peppered around on top of plinths (yes, we’re talking about statues). Whilst the ladies out there may be hoping that their man is better endowed than Michaelangelo’s David, when you’re in a city as beautiful as Florence, who cares! Check out the views from the incredible Duomo and soak up the Italian vibe.

3. Bruges

Bruges is Brussels’ not-so-ugly brother. Perfect for the more gentle type of romantic break, its quiet medieval streets and canals make it perfect for relaxing and romancing. It’s easily accessible via Lilles or Brussels on the Eurostar and is just right for a weekend break. There’s even a museum dedicated to chips, if that’s what flicks your switch!

4. Barcelona

One for the more fiery couples out there, Barcelona is a city buzzing with life and adventure. Art and architecture figure prominently in this Catalan gem, and there’s never a moment of boredom. As you ramble down Las Ramblas you’ll feel like anything is possible, and in Barcelona it pretty much is!

5. Munich
Home of some wonderfully majestic castles, Munich is the perfect base to explore the incredible landscape of Bavaria. For gay couples, check out the ‘gay days’ of Oktoberfest, where you’ll find lederhosen a plenty. You may even feel moved to say “Ich Liebe dich” (which of course, as we all know, means “I love you” in German).
