Amsterdam isn’t just about cafés and the Red Light District – the city has so much more to offer, including some beautiful green areas. So why not take a Traincation to the ‘dam and let the good times roll…
What’s on?It’s time to get a bit retro and don your skates for a day of rolling around. Inline skating in Vondelpark (pictured) is a fantastic way to see this stunning park, and is also great exercise. You can rent skates, protective pads and helmets for around €15 for the day. See here for more details. You can even book a starter lessons if you’re feeling a bit shaky on your feet!
Getting thereNowadays the train from London to Amsterdam takes around the same time as flying! Take a morning Eurostar to Brussels, then the hourly InterCity train or a high-speed Thalys train onto Amsterdam in just over four hours. You can even grab a yummy continental brunch (pictured) on the train. Centre to centre, flying takes around four hours so there really is no excuse. Plus on a train you won’t have to worry about any silly 100ml rules or getting ripped off by local taxis.
