Christmas is just around the corner, so we’re bringing you the best festive Traincations each week to get you in the mood…
What’s all the fuss?
Head to the Podsdamer Platz in Berlin for some ice skating fun this weekend. Have a skate on the 40m ice rink, visit the snow park or just relax in an Austrian ski hut. If you want to pick up a few unusual stocking fillers then don’t miss the fantastic Christmas market. There are also fair rides and festive street entertainment throughout the square. And finally, have a go on the famous 70m sledging slope, the Rodelbahn. You can either don your skis down the slope or jump in a big rubber ring and slide down.
Getting there
An afternoon Eurostar from London to Paris, will give you enough time to get across to Gare de l’Est for your connecting train. The City Night Line Sleeper leaves Paris at 8.20pm each day, arriving in Berlin around 9.00am in the morning. The sleeper carriages are the most comfortable, but if your budget it a little tighter then book a couchette. And make sure you don’t forget to bring a flask of mulled wine and a few mince pies for the journey. Check out the Loco2 booking site for prices and times.
